The Best Strategy to Teach A Multi-Step Task!

The Best Strategy to Teach A Multi-Step Task!

Independence is one of the top goals we have for our students with special needs.  How do you do that when sometimes the task has several steps?  You need to build confidence one step at a time.

Here’s the way I can relate to this concept.  I’m OK with technology, but I’m not a tech wiz.  I learn what I need, but I don’t spend hours playing around with technology that I won’t use.  However, when I do need to learn a new technology concept, what has happened so many times is that someone who is a wiz typically sits there, demos the steps (way too quickly) using words I’ve never heard of before and then when they’re done, they look at me as if to say, “Got it?”

My response is Noooooooooo…… I don’t!!!   What I need is someone to show me how, then LET ME DO IT.  I could also probably benefit from the strategy I’m going to teach you in today’s video!

Take a look!

Just think of this strategy as a kind of training wheels for helping someone learn something new!

Thank you to those who ordered Scripting with Idioms!!! It’s humbling to think my book will be a gift to some folks out there for the holidays! 

On a personal note, Jerry and I are staying put and so are our kids and their families.  It’s going to be a strange holiday season, but here’s to looking forward to a new year and better health for all!  CHEERS!

This will be my last post until January 2021, so take care, be safe and I’ll see you next time!
