Intensive Reading Interventions for Secondary Students!

Intensive Reading Interventions for Secondary Students!

I am very aware that once students get into high school, the stakes are high. Traditionally, the focus is on passing classes with graduation as the end goal.  All efforts go into helping students meet course requirements, which includes getting homework done, studying for the tests and quizzes.  Little time if any is left over for any continuation of closing the gap on any lagging reading skills. I have and will forever feel like this is such a shame.  If I could wave a magic wand, I would wish for one more class period a day that students could use to continue to enhance their reading skills whether it is decoding multiple syllable words or having better comprehension skills.

If you find yourself in the unique and unusual position to give more reading instruction to students at the secondary level, I want you to know about some resourcesthat are of high quality and appropriate for this group of students.

Take a look!

I’m hoping that this information will inspire you to take a second look at programming for your students who still struggle with some form of reading.  After all, these skills give students life long strategies when it’s important to be able to read and understand vital information that can affect their lives in many ways.

If you have other programs at this level that have proven to be successful to your students, I’d love to hear about them!  If you choose to implement one of the programs I’ve highlighted here and find success, I know my other subscribers would appreciate hearing about it!

You take care and I’ll see you next time!
