One of the biggest fine motor hurdles some of our students with special needs face is the ability to tie their shoes!!! Once learned, it’s kind of like a right of passage. Right???
I have often turned to our amazing staff of Occupational Therapists for ideas on all kinds of fine motor issues. Recently I got to be the one who was sharing a great tool!!! 🙂
Today I’ve got a visual guide that I found online to help students tie their shoes. It’s sooooo simple, it’s clever (and you know how much I love simple and clever!) and I’m going to show you how it works and where you can get one!
If you are a do- it- yourselfer, you could actually make these for yourself and share them with your parents, have your students make them for a fundraiser, or give them to other staff members for their students or their own kids!!!
Take a LOOK!!!
I also wanted to share with you this AMAZING video on tying shoes by doing “the Ian”. I actually had to practice this a couple of times to get it, but HOW COOL IS THIS???
Check it out!!! https://screen.yahoo.com/youre-tying-shoes-wrong-213110432.html
Shoe tying will never be the same after the EZ Leaps guide and “the Ian”!!!
Happy Shoe Tying for everyone!!!
I would love to hear how this works for you!!! AND if you like this video, give it a thumps up!
You take care and I’ll see you next time!
