Have You Ever Asked Your Students with Disabilities about Their Gifts?

In social settings, one of the best ways to get people talking is to ask them about themselves!  I’ve found that if I take interest in the work they do, their children, their life story, their vacations or their hobbies, I get all kinds of information. Those things are important to most people and they typically have much to say.  When they are talking, I also hear the enthusiasm in their voices and see animation in their tone and gestures.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever asked anyone the question, “What is your gift?”  Would I get the same responses if I asked this question?   I’ve never asked this question to a student.  Have you?  How does asking this question benefit students?

Take a look!

Hopefully after hearing about this concept, you will be inspired to do this with your own students! Don’t forget your family and friends too!

The more we can do to help students feel good about themselves when they are with us, the more confidence they will build and the better attitude they will have! All of this could translate into more success both at school, at home and eventually in the workplace!

It’s a simple concept; it’s a simple question but could result in tremendous outcomes!

I would enjoy hearing what your students have to say!  Let me know!

You take care and I’ll see you next time!
