I have a question for you. Is cursive writing gone? What are your thoughts on this? For me, there’s nothing more delightful than gorgeous penmanship. You’ve been hearing about the amazing training I went through this past summer when I learned how to implement the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading. Something else I learned from Janet George was the 12 reasons why we should be teaching cursive writing. It all made such great sense to me that I wanted to share these reasons with you.
Plus, I added two more and I’m pretty certain you will agree with me!
Take a look!
Did you know that the experts in the Orton-Gillingham approach recommend cursive writing to help students with Dyslexia? They do and for good reasons that you just learned. In fact, the Fortune Academy, a school for students with specific learning disabilities, starts students on cursive writing in first grade! If a school that specializes in the education of students with Dyslexia and other language deficits promotes the use of cursive handwriting, there must be some significant benefits!
I hope you promote cursive writing with your schools and with your own children!
As Simon Sinek says, you need to begin with the “Why” 🙂
You take care and I’ll see you next time!
